chom-chom -Cottage Cheese-based, syrupy sweet dish

Cham-Cham is a typically Bengali sweet, that is popular in India and Bangladesh.comes in a variety of colors, mainly light pink, light yellow, and white. It is also coated with coconut flakes as a garnish.they are addictive! :p

Cham-Cham 

















 Recipe---

1 liter milk paneer

2 to 3 drops saffron food colour
1 tsp ararut powder
For the sugar syrup 
2 cups sugar
5 cup water
2 tablespoons finely shredded coconut

Knead together the paneer and food colour and ararut powder & 1 tsp glucose powder..
divide the mixture into 20 equal parts. Keep aside.
Flatten each portion between the palms of our hands and shape them into ovals,
taking care to see that there are no cracks on the surface.
Combine the sugar and water with in a pressure cooker
When the syrup comes to a boil, add oval shaped chena in it close the lid,
keep it on high flame till one Whistle Then turn down the heat to low and Cook for 8 minutes.
Turn off the heat and open the lid quickly,
cool it down & Roll the chum chums in dry coconut
if u want to stuff it u can use malai or koya
these are plain but i used to stuffed condense milk coconut preparation
for stuffing i add 1/2 cup milk 5 tsp condense milk 2 chopped pistachio,4 tsp shredded coconut cook it on low
flame for 5 min cool it down & stuff...
  • ---(if u don't want glucose just don't add it ,rest is same......)
  • ---(if u don't have ararut powder u can use cornflour powder or suji)
  • ---(while making chena don't hang it just squeeze out the liquid & use it u will get soft spongy cham-cham)
